BancFirst is expanding its Bartlesville presence with the city’s first video-equipped ATMs, allowing tellers to remotely assist customers with drive-thru banking.

Two interactive teller machines operated by the company will be open the final week of September at 3600 SE Price Road, just west of U.S. 75. The company is constructing drive-thru lanes and a canopy to hold the ITMs, BancFirst Facilities Manager Doug Hogue said.

While they will function as traditional ATMs after business hours, the ITMs will offer a broader scope of business functions, he said.

“It has a dual role. … You have a person on the other side you’re dealing with just like a teller, they’re just at a remote location. You can do the same things you would do if you were at a drive-thru at a bank,” Hogue said.

The ITMs are equipped with video monitors to connect the tellers with customers in real-time.

The company has not decided where the remote tellers operating the Bartlesville ITMs will be located yet, Hogue said.

Currently, the bank operates one full branch and two ATMs in Bartlesville.

The use of ITMs throughout Oklahoma has been sited in BancFirst’s Corporate Sustainability Report as part of an effort to improve energy efficiency by operating in place of a full branch.

Hogue said the bank decided to expand its ITM usage to Bartlesville due to the community’s business growth.

“The market dynamic there is very good,” Hogue said. “Bartlesville is a very good and thriving town. We’re excited about being a part of it.”
